Maya Lin / What is Missing?

Art Directors Club Gold Cube Winner Maya Lin, the legendary artist and activist behind the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial, came to @radical.media with a new project using video, a new medium for her. The multi-site, ongoing project entitled What Is Missing? is considered Maya’s last memorial; a memorial for the species we have lost and are losing due to habitat destruction. Video elements produced for the project include: The Unchopping A Tree video, which played in front of world leaders at COP15 in support of the UN-REDD Programme, a number of Times Square billboard videos that played every hour on the hour throughout the month, cone videos, played in large cone installations made from reclaimed redwoods.
